clearly understood that in this matter he is merely

acting on behalf of the Council of the University.

Free quarters nze provided or an allowance in lieu

thereof. Your salary will be subject to a deduction

of 6 per cent in respect of superannuation. You will

not be entitled to private practice without the

authorization of the Council of the University.

2. It is to be understood that your engagement

le in the first instance for not more than three

years from the date of your arrival in Hong Kong, and

that if 16 is established to the setlafaction or the

Council of the University that you are not qualified

for efficient service there, they will have power to

cancel your appointment at any time within the sold

three years without giving you my further compensa- tion than a free passage to Englund, which will only

be granted if they are antiaried that you have by

your good conduct deserved it. If the appointment is

terminated at the end of the said three years you

will be given a free passage to England with full
